Our history

1987

Creation of the GMD Group by Mr Alain Martineau with the takeover of VERON, a company specialising in cutting and stamping.

1987-1996

Growth of the Group (sales multiplied by 5) through internal growth (development of micro-computing) and external growth (takeover of 7 stamping companies)

1998

Institutional investors acquire 35.15% of GMD's capital

2002

Referencing French car manufacturers

2006

Learning the plastic injection moulding trade

2009

Takeover of the EUROSTYLE and RENCAST groups.
GMD acquires the foundry business and organises itself into 8 business units.

2011

Referencing with equipment manufacturer ZF and taking orders worth €60m a year. Creation of GMD TANGER

2012

Decision to refocus exclusively on carmakers

2013

Around thirty non-automotive companies have left the Group

2013

Acquisition of the SEALYNX group, specialising in automotive sealing components

2016

Organisation of the Group into 4 business lines: Stamping, Sealing, Foundry and Plastics

2016 – 2018

International expansion with the creation of several plants: 3 plants in Portugal, 1 plant in Mexico, 1 plant in Hungary.

2019

Acquisition of SCHÄFER OESTERLE, a company specialising in plastic, leather and synthetic coatings for Premium manufacturers, within the Plastics Division, which becomes Plastic & Leather.

2019 – 2020

Construction of 2 new plants in Morocco (one in the Sealing Division and one in the Stamping Division)

2022

Continued international expansion (Czech Republic) and sale of the Waterproofing Division

Our organisation around three business lines enables us to integrate solid vertical skills, from design to logistics, including tooling and robotics.
